Game #85: Marlins @ Giants

AT&T Park - 10:15 PM - Josh Johnson vs Barry Zito

Josh Johnson tossed another complete game on Tuesday night but without Hanley Ramirez for a third straight day, the Marlins' offense failed to back him. Barry Zito and the Giants held the Fish to just four hits and shut them out, 3-0.

Josh Johnson: 7 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, 5 K - Had a bit of a backwards night. Usually, Johnson gives up most of his offense in innings 1-3 (.234/.303/.294/.597 line against) and is at his best in innings 4-6 (.183/.222/.303/.524 line against). Tonight, after only going one over the minimum in innings 1-3, he gave up all three runs, which included a homer, the first he's given up in four starts, in innings 4-6. Either way, he still collected the quality start, his his ninth in his last ten starts, bounced back nicely from his last outing in which he walked four and went over the 100 strikeout mark for the second time in his career. Next stop: the All-Star game.

Dan Uggla: 1-4, 2 K - After looking like he was going to get back on track with a .253 june, Uggla is back to struggling really badly. He's off to just a 4-21 start in July. Since Hanley's been out, Uggla has gone just 2-10 in the three spot. If Hanley is going to be out much longer, someone else (perhaps Cody Ross who is hitting .383 since June 23?) needs to get a shot in that spot.

Emilio Bonifacio: 0-3, BB - Drew a walk against a lefty for just the fourth time this year. Since June 23, he is OBPing .407.
