Game #88: Marlins @ Diamondbacks

Chase Field - 10:15 PM - Ricky Nolasco vs Yusmiero Petit

Yusmiero Petit? Sure. Dan Haren? Not so much. There would be no thrilling comeback on friday night as Haren held the marlins to just four hits and the Diamondbacks evened the series at one game a piece. One to remember then one to forget. Happens.

Ricky Nolasco: 6 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, BB, 8 K - Broke a streak of six straight quality starts by giving up seven runs in six innings to a team hitting .245, third worst in baseball, that hits in a hitter's park. Seeing as how the Diamondbacks are the third worst hitting team in baseball in terms of batting average and in the bottom eight in both OBP and OPS, it would seem like this was a step back. However, in their last ten games, the Snakes are hitting .295 and have scored 31 runs. Furthermore, if you look at his last three road starts before this one, this was to be expected. In his last four starts away from Land Shark Stadium, he's given up 18 runs. On the year, he has a 6.99 ERA. The good news for Nolasco is that three of his next four starts come at home and his career stats favor the second half.
