Introducing the Ravens new head coach

Nineteen days after firing 9 year head coach Brian Billick the Baltimore Ravens have replaced him. John Harbaugh will officially become the head man in Baltimore tomorrow at noon when the Ravens hold a press conference according to news sources in Baltimore.

Harbaugh, as many of you know is the brother of former Raven's QB Jim Harbaugh. He comes to Baltimore with no head coaching experience, last year was the secondary coach for the Philidelphia Eagles. He has a reputation around the league as a teacher of the game. Prior to that he was the Special Teams coach for 9 seasons with the Eagles.  Some good news out of this, other than the search being over, is that Harbaugh and Rex Ryan have history. This bodes well that Rex Ryan could still be the Defensive Coordinator this coming season.

At the college level Harbaugh has coached virtually every area: tight ends, special teams, defensive backs, running backs, and strength/conditioning.

Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available. I will take a day or two to learn more about this guy before I give an opinion of whether or not this is a good thing. I will say this, the hiring of an individual that has never been a head coach signifies a determination by the leadership of the team to take the team in a totally new direction. After 5 - 11, a new direction may be exactly what is needed.
