Unlike the wives of Tony Gonzalez and Brodie Croyle, Herm Edwards' clock management skills are ugly. On a late 4th quarter drive, down by three Herm burned a timeout and decided to challenge the spot of the ball on a 3rd down play, only to lose the challenge, thus wasting consecutive time outs. Then he made the curious decision to go for it on 4th and 1 rather than kick the game tying FG. Want to know what was he thinking? Perhaps an old press conference from his Jets days has the answer, or at least can tell us why we play the game:
This is the greatest thing about Herm: He plays to win the game. Hello?!? He plays to win the game! But That... That... That... This whole decision not to kick the field goal bothers me.
