Vince Young Wanted Out of AFC Wild Card Game?

In the span of seven days, we've learned that Vince Young might have asked out of last week's Titans game, rode around with an unloaded gun, "mentioned suicide several times" to his psychologist (excellent doctor-patient confidentiality there, by the way) and now, the troubled quarterback apparently had to be convinced to play the second half of last year's Wild Card game.

Adam Schefter reported today on NFL Network’s NFL GameDay Morning that during last season’s AFC Wild Card game against San Diego, Young wanted to stop playing at halftime and had to be persuaded to take the field with his teammates in the second half.

Think about that. It was the biggest game of his professional career, and Young wanted to stop playing at halftime. That’s stunning for a guy who left Texas with a reputation as a big-game player.

Ultimately, Young did play the entire game, completing 16 of 29 passes for 138 yards, with no touchdowns and an interception. The Titans lost 17-6.

It should be noted that the Titans were actually leading that game at the half.

There are those that play football because they want to, and those that play because they can. I'm beginning to think Vince Young is part of the latter group.
