Josina Anderson of FOX 31 in Denver reports that several NFL players, including New Orleans Saints Deuce McAllister and Will Smith have tested positive under the NFL's steroid policy as a result of taking Bumetanide, which is a "water pill" used to lose weight. However, the drug can also be used as a masking agent.
It is reported that many of the players implicated are linemen who have weight clauses in their contracts and are likely using the drug for its weight loss properties. ESPN's Chris Mortensen follows up the report to say that the number of players who tested positive is greater than 10 and quite possibly over 15.
