The Tampa Bay Rays Are World Series Bound

Yes, the Tampa Bay Rays, the same Rays who won no more than 70 games in a season before this year, have defeated the defending-champion Boston Red Sox in the ALCS, and are on their way to take on the Phillies in the World Series.

I wish I was more upset, but clearly, these aren't the same Rays - these Rays are good. Legitimately good. They recovered from what could have been a morale-killing Game 5 and a back-breaking Game 6, ignored all the naysayers predicting their eventual demise (and, apparently, my best attempts at odd fan-superstitions, including, but not limited to, wearing my "lucky shirt" and not moving a muscle during any and all Red Sox' rallies), hitched their season to Matt Garza in a do-or-die Game 7, introduced the country to David Price, and erased 10 years of futility in a single night.

Now they're hosting (thanks, of course, to Michael Young) Game 1 of the 2008 World Series Wednesday night.

Dustin Pedroia, the only Boston player who remembered to show up and hit Sunday night, aptly sums up the post game emotions, after the jump.
