Carmelo Anthony Falls Short Of Patriotic Goal

During the Nuggets' shootaround yesterday, Carmelo Anthony said he wanted to score 44 points against the Warriors. This wasn't to honor his college, where 44 is somewhat of a sacred number at Syracuse, but instead it was in support of Barack Obama, who was elected America's 44th president Tuesday. Carmelo fell short, going 13-for-30 for just 28 points as the Nuggets lost to the Warriors, 111-101.

On a night when one player tried to score 44, it should be noted two players surpassed that total. Tony Parker had 55 for the Spurs as they won their first game of the season in double overtime against the Timberwolves, and Amare Stoudemire finished with 49 points, leading the Suns over the Pacers 113-103.

I expect the 49th president to be the first to wear goggles

and the 55th president to have a French rapping career.

Hey, we're living in a country where anything is possible.
