Titans, Giants Are 1,2 in RCS NFL Power Ranking Averages

nfl%20ranks12.jpgThe RCS NFL Power Ranking Averages combine nine other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NFL on a weekly basis.

The Titans spend their sixth straight week as the #1 team in the RCS NFL Power Ranking Averages. The only change in the top-five teams this week comes from the Steelers and Bucs switching places at 4th and 5th.

Two new teams enter the top-ten this week: the Jets, rising from 13th to 6th, and the Cowboys, moving from 15th up to 9th. Falling out of the top-ten this week are the Patriots, dropping from 8th to 11th (the 20th place ranking from WhatIfSports can't help), and the Ravens, sliding from 10th to 12th.

The Cowboys and Jets climbed the most spots in the rankings this week. Meanwhile, no team dropped more than four spots, but surely the Eagles (dropped from 11th to 15th) would have if it weren't for the rankings at Covers, who decided to rank the Eagles 5th this week, not penalizing them at all for their tie with the Bengals. In fact, Covers gave 13 teams either the exclusive highest or lowest ranking they received this week, including the curious decision to rank the Lions ahead of the Rams and Seahawks.

The NFC East remains the strongest division with teams ranked 2nd, 9th, 10th, and 15th. The AFC West retains the crown as the king of second-rate, with an average ranking average of 23.81, narrowing out the NFC West at 22.95.
