Top 10 Seasons By a Backup Quarterback


The backup quarterback is often the most popular guy in town. When a team is struggling, fans think anything is better than the status quo - thus the thinking that the backup QB can certainly do a better job than the bum currently starting. This happened in Cleveland this past week when Brady Quinn made the start on Thursday night, after just two days of practice as the starter.

The Browns are one of 13 teams that have had to turn to their backup this season either due to poor play or injury. The biggest story this season has been Tom Brady’s injury and Matt Cassel filling in for the superstar. Many thought the Patriots season was over when Brady went down, but Cassel has done a decent job and continues to improve. He is 5-3 as a starter and has the Patriots tied atop the AFC East.
