Lions Kicker Speaks Out

Things are really bad in Detroit? ”How bad are they?” It’s so bad that the KICKER is now speaking out! From The Detroit News:
"To say we're frustrated doesn't even begin to capture the gravity of what we've been doing the last five, six, seven, eight years," Hanson said. "There are only so many years where you keep losing before even your kicker's like, 'Hey, wake up, this is not fun.' I've tried to be honest, and I think it's important for people to know we're tired of this, we're sick to our stomachs over this, we're not just collecting paychecks and passing through.”
I’m surprised it took Hanson this long to vocalize his displeasure. He has spent his entire 17-year career with the Lions and has never made it out of the first round of the playoffs. Hard to believe, I know, but the Lions did used to make the playoffs, though they had some player named Barry on those teams. Since their last playoff appearance in 1999 (a Sanders-less team), the Lions have gone 40-101. It seems Hanson is a bit of a masochist, as he hopes to stay in Detroit.

"I've always said I'd like to stay, and part of it is, you've played here for 17 years, what fun is it to go somewhere else?" Hanson said. "It would be so much more fun to finally get it done here. I have a family here, too, so by far my first choice would be to remain a Lion. Hopefully there's no Plan B, but you never know how the business works out."

Jason – look at the Lions roster and track record. You aren’t getting it done in Detroit and the ‘fun’ of going somewhere else is winning. You might not remember what it feels like but let’s just say it’s much better than losing. Stop kicking yourself (pun completely intended) and get out of Detroit.
