The RCS NBA Power Ranking Averages combine eight* other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NBA on a weekly basis.
The Orlando Magic are the new #1 team in the RCS NBA Power Ranking Averages this week. This is the first time this season that a team other than the Celtics, Lakers, or Cavaliers has been ranked #1. The Cavs remain 2nd, while the Lakers and Celtics are tied for third. However, the majority of the rankings used here were created prior to the Lakers beating the Cavaliers last night in LA.
There is one new team in the top ten this week, the Rockets, who rose from 12th to 10th. Falling out was the slumping Pistons, who fell from 8th all the way down to 16th; the Pistons dropped the most spots of any team this week. Also falling in the rankings are the Raptors, who dropped five spots, from 19th to 24th. Climbing up the most spots in the rankings this week were the 76ers, who jumped up from 18th into a tie for 13th. The 76ers are ranked 16th by most sites, but slotted 9th and 10th by NBA.com and ESPN, respectively.
The top three teams are all from the Eastern Conference, but nine of the top 12 teams reside in the Western Conference. As it has been all season, the bottom of the rankings are also dominated by the Western Conference, with five of the bottom six teams.
*Only 6 new rankings had been released for the week at the time this post was published.
