The RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages combine seven* other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NHL on a weekly basis.
The Boston Bruins remain the #1 ranked team in the RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages this week. (Although, with most all of the rankings being released prior to last nights #2 ranked Sharks victory over the Bruins, that will likely change next week.)
With no teams moving up or down the rankings a large number of spots, its time to take a closer look at two of the teams that have quite a wide range of rankings among the sites used to make the RCS Power Ranking Averages.
Sports Illustrated has slotted the Blue Jackets 10th; the next highest ranking for the Blue Jackets is 17th, and the lowest they were ranked this week is 21st. With the Blue Jackets currently in 9th in the Western Conference, and posting a 5-4-1 record in their last ten games, it begs the question, why did SI rank them so high?
The Florida Panthers are ranked 10th by TSN and 22nd by ESPN. Currently ranked 8th in the East, with a 6-3-1 record in the their last ten, the Panthers deserved ranking is probably somewhere in the middle.
Hopefully such a wide range within the rankings is the sign of a great playoffs to come.
