The RCS NBA Power Ranking Averages combine eight* other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NBA on a weekly basis.
Little has changed in the RCS NBA Power Ranking Averages, as the Lakers remain the unanimous #1 team. All across the rankings it is hard to notice any significant alterations from last weeks ranking to this week. Even the Pistons, losers of six in a row and 10 of their last 13, only dropped two spots, from 16th to 18th. The big riser of the week? The red-hot Jazz, who moved up from 12th to 9th; or the Knicks, who moved from 22nd to 19th.
Comparing the conferences, the superiority of the West is apparent when looking past the big three in the East. The East can claim to have three of the top-four ranked teams in the Cavs, Celtics, and Magic, but also have just three of the top 11 teams. The current 9th seed in the West, the Suns, are tied at 12th in the rankings with the Hawks, the current 4th seed in the East.
At the same time that the playoff teams in the West are all-around stronger than those in the East, the teams at the bottom of the East are ranked above the teams at the bottom of the West, with six of the eight worst teams coming from the West.
