Billy Donovan Replacing Billy Gillispie at Kentucky? *UPDATED*

UPDATE: Donovan has already squashed the rumors of him to Kentucky, saying, "In response to the rumors circulating about my interest in other jobs, I wanted to address this as quickly as possible. I am committed to the University of Florida and look forward to continuing to build our program here." So, you can pretty much ignore the rest of this post now.

Earlier today, after just two years as the Kentucky basketball head coach, Billy Gillispie was fired. It hardly came as a surprise, as his job has seemingly been in danger for at least a month. Gillispie will leave the winningest program in college basketball history with five years still remaining on his contract (a contract that detailed he would receive a $6 million buyout if he were let go after two seasons: cha-ching!), and a 40-27 record.

Now Kentucky gets to begin their nationwide coaching search, but according to Fox 35 in Orlando, the search is already over: Billy Donovan is stepping down as the head coach of Florida and taking over in the Bluegrass State.

A source close to the University of Kentucky athletic program tells Fox 35 Sports that Billy Donovan will resign as Florida Gators' head basketball coach to take the same position at Kentucky.
So, there's that. This is not the first time that Donovan has been rumored to take over at Kentucky. Fortunately, he's never given us any reason to doubt him in the past.

Thanks to Jerod at Midwest Sports Fans for the tip.
