The RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages combine seven* other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NHL on a weekly basis.
The Devils stay on top of the RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages this week, but are far from a unanimous #1. In fact, four teams received first place rankings from the six sites updated at the time of publication. There was only one change in the composition of the top ten teams, as the Canadiens dropped from 10th to 14th and the red-hot Penguins continued to move up, from 12th to 10th.
Dropping the most spots this week was the Ducks, who fell from 15th to 20th. The team that climbed the most spots in the rankings this week was the Hurricanes, who moved from 16th to 12th.
The rankings are slightly more uniform than in past weeks, but still have their fair share of discrepancies. Fox Sports continues their love fest with the Rangers (RCS - 15th), ranking them at 11th, while Yahoo! has them ranked all the way down at 22nd. Other notes of interest, Yahoo! ranked the Flames (RCS - 7th) all the way up at 3rd, despite only being 3rd in the west and consecutive losses. Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated has the Canucks (RCS - 6th) ranked up at 2nd, who are hot, but are only 5th in the Western Conference.
*AOL rankings were not released for the week at the time of publication.
