What to Watch: Weekend Edition

FRIDAY
7pm ET - ESPN2 - High School Basketball: Oak Hill Academy vs. Montrose Christian - USA Today has Oak Hill ranked 3rd and Montrose ranked 6th. Their past few games have apparently been epic.

8pm - ESPN - Cavaliers @ Celtics - The Celtics will be without Kevin Garnett again but there is one trend that bodes well for the Celtics - the home team has won the past 14 times these teams have played.

10:30pm - Nuggets @ Jazz - The Jazz look to continue their hot streak and win their 10th straight game. They trail the Nuggets by just a game and a half in the Northwest division.

Non-sports pick - 6:30pm - Bravo - Ghostbusters II - Worth watching just for the soundtrack alone.

SATURDAY
11am - ESPN2 - World Baseball Classic: Netherlands vs. Dominican Republic - The Dominicans better watch out. The Netherlands have a knight on their team! 'That's Sir Sidney Ponson to you!'

12pm - CBS - #1 Connecticut @ #3 Pittsburgh - UConn can wrap up the Big East regular season title with a win. But if they fall and Louisville beats West Virginia, it's the Cardinals that take the title.

12pm - ESPN - Michigan @ Minnesota - A win puts Minnesota in pretty good shape to make the tournament.

2pm - ESPN - WBC: USA vs. Canada - The Canadians are no pushovers but the US should be able to win this one.

2pm - CBS - California @ #21 Arizona State - Both teams will make the tournament but this could definitely help for seeding.

OR Kentucky @ Florida - The loser is pretty much out of the running but even the winner still has work to do.

2pm - ESPN2 - #15 Missouri @ Texas A&M - The Aggies looked like they had no chance to make the tournament just a few weeks ago but they've now won five in a row. They still have work to do though and a win against Missouri and a win in the Big 12 tournament would most likely do it.

3:30pm - ABC - Oklahoma State @ #4 Oklahoma - This game is probably more important for Oklahoma. They need to show that they deserve a number one seed by winning this game and at least making the Finals of the Big 12 tournament.

OR Maryland @ Virginia - Maryland still has a chance but it's not likely.

4pm - CBS - Texas @ #9 Kansas - Kansas has a shot at a one-seed if they can roll through the Big 12 tournament.

4pm - ESPN - Big South Conference title game - Radford faces fast-paced VMI for the right to dance. The Big South website even plays the song "Everybody Dance Now" with mascots.

5pm - ESPN - WBC: Panama vs. Puerto Rico - Puerto Rico has a very solid team.

6pm - ESPN2 - Atlantic Sun Conference title game - Jacksonville is the top seed in the tournament but they have an overall record of just 17-12. The winner of this tournament is going to be a 15 or 16 seed.

8pm - ESPN2 - Ohio Valley Conference title game - Can anyone take down the powerhouse that is Tennessee-Martin??

9pm - ESPN - #6 Louisville @ West Virginia - Louisville will know if they have a chance at the Big East title after the UConn/Pitt game.

Non-sports pick - 9pm - Comedy Central - Idiocracy - Mike Judge's under-marketed and under-appreciated movie.

SUNDAY
12pm - #19 Purdue @ #8 Michigan State - Purdue needs a win to get the two-seed in the Big Ten tournament. MSU needs the win to have a shot at a one-seed in the real tournament.

OR Alabama @ Tennessee - Tennessee is looking for another 20-win season.

12:30pm - NBC - Bruins @ Rangers - The Rangers are in a heated battle for playoff positioning. Just one point separates fifth and eight place in the East.

2pm - CBS - Missouri Valley Conference title game - Creighton has a shot at an at-large bid but they should probably win their conference outright to make sure they get in.

3:30pm - ABC - Suns @ Spurs - It might be one of the last times to see Shaq battle Duncan.

3:30pm - ESPN2 - Women's Basketball: Conference USA title game - What's the point?

4pm - CBS - #7 Duke @ #2 North Carolina - UNC can wrap up the ACC title with a win at home.

5:30pm - ESPN2 - Women's Basketball: Big Ten Conference title game - Doesn't matter.

7:30pm - Women's Basketball: SEC title game - Did you think my comments on the Conference USA and Big Ten Championships were a slam against women sports? Nope. What's the point when UConn is just going to roll through the NCAA Tournament.

9:30pm - West Coast Conference semifinals - Following the first semis is the second at 11:30pm. Gonzaga is into the tournament regardless. St. Mary's will have to upset Gonzaga to punch their ticket.

ESPN - World Baseball Classic - There are games on all day but clearly I know nothing about them so why don't you just check out the schedule.

Non-sports pick - 8pm - Fox - The Simpsons - "When Homer and Marge's adjustable-rate mortgage skyrockets, they have to put their house up for sale." Ha! Cartoons! Gotta love how they can just do the most off-the-wall stuff and we just accept it as possible.
