Late last month, Yahoo! Sports broke the story on Connecticut’s recruiting violations of Nate Miles. The Huskies staff had been in contact with Josh Nochimson, a sports agent who represented Miles. It was a violation for Nochimson to be involved with Miles and for UConn to be in contact with him, but according to Yahoo!:
Five different UConn coaches traded at least 1,565 phone and text communications with Nochimson, including 16 from head coach Jim Calhoun. Now I know what you’re thinking – all that texting and calling must cost a fortune. But don’t worry, Calhoun DID get a great deal on his phone bill through Comcast’s Triple Play. This is an advertisement that has run on The Hartford-Courant’s website:
To me, this seems like a poor choice on both the parts of Comcast and Calhoun. Next thing you know, Alex Rodriguez will be endorsing GNC and Maurice Clarett will be hawking Grey Goose from his prison blog.
With all the money he's saving on this deal, maybe he CAN afford to give some of his salary back to Connecticut.
