Blogs With Balls, the "world’s largest sports blogger and new media gathering," is scheduled for June 13, 2009, in New York City.
“This event will explore the ways in which sports bloggers and writers can utilize new media to forge stronger relationships with teams, athletes and consumer brands,” said Don Povia, the event co-creator and owner of HuggingHaroldReynolds.com, a popular sports blog. “All of the stakeholders recognize the potential for meaningful collaboration, but we need to better understand how to do so while still providing value to our respective audiences.”
Scheduled speakers include A.J. Daulerio of Deadspin, Spencer Hall of EDSBS, Dan Shanoff, Bethlehem Shoals from FreeDarko, Dan Steinberg, author of the D.C. Sports Bog, Michael Tunison of KissingSuzyKolber, Jeff Pearlman, author and SI.com columnist, and our very own Jeff Pyatt, managing editor of this here RealClearSports.
Pyatt will participate in the panel titled, "Why We Hate You: The Media’s Take." Along with Pearlman, Steinberg, Shoals and NBC Local's John Ness, and moderated by Shanoff, they will examine the "conflict between traditional media and bloggers," and discuss exactly what it's like working with, or for, the "established mainstream media."
The event begins with registration at 9:30am on Saturday, June 13, at Stout NYC, and runs from 11am until 6:30pm. It is open to all sports fans, writers, sites, teams, athletes and companies, and is a great opportunity to talk about the future of sports media with those who are leading the way.
