It’s May. The NFL Draft is a full month behind us. Brett Favre rumors are circling. Sounds like it’s time for people to weigh in on who the best team in the NFL is this season… which starts in September. The first preseason edition of the RCS NFL Power Ranking Averages have the New England Patriots tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the #1 spot. The Pats have Tom Brady back, and a lot of offseason editions were made to ensure they never have another travesty like last season’s 11-5 record.
Prognosticators also seem to like the Bears as one of the NFL’s most improved team, as they are the highest ranked team that did not make the playoffs last season (and doesn’t reside in New England), coming in at 11th in the RCS Averages, and being ranked as high as 4th by Peter King at Sports Illustrated.
Not surprisingly, the Lions open up the rankings as the low team on the totem pole.
