Did that title catch your attention? Yeah, completely untrue. Now you
know how I feel when I read the title, "Jim Kelly: Bills should move on
from Edwards, target Tebow" from USA Today.
I saw it and thought, wow, Jim Kelly has no idea what he's talking about. This is the guy that wants to get more involved in the Bills organization? No thank you. But then I read the article. Here's what Kelly said:
"I like Trent personally. He works hard. But he's had three years. It's time to find somebody who is the future of the Buffalo Bills. ... Whether it's Tim Tebow, whether they'll have a shot at him when draft time comes ... you have to look at the top three quarterbacks in the draft, really study them. And you look for a guy with good character, good leadership ability and good arm strength -- and a guy who doesn't come from California."
So the first part of that headline is correct but he definitely isn't saying the Bills should TARGET Tebow. It sounds to me like he said Tebow's name in passing because with the amount of media attention he receives how is that not the first name that's on the tip of your tongue. But from the quotes in the article he certainly doesn't sing Tebow's praises. And that last bit about California is more of a joke because of the Bills horrible track record with QBs from the state. Rob Johnson, J.P. Losman and Trent Edwards are all from California.
Barring some luck (I'd call it bad luck) the Bills will have a top ten pick in next year's draft. If they decide to go with a QB there will be plenty of options before Tim Tebow. The only positive I'd see with Tebow is he's at least tough enough to take the beating that the Bills awful offensive line gives up.
