Sharks Remain No. 1 in RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages

nhl nov 17.jpgThe RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages combine six other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NHL on a weekly basis.

For the second week in a row the Sharks are the top team in the RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages followed closely by the Devils.

Meanwhile, the Penguins, who spent the first month of the season at the top of the rankings, have dropped all the way down to 10th, and early season surprise upstarts, the Avalanche, have started to fall back to earth, dropping from 2nd to 8th.

The two teams who climbed the most spots were the Predators and Thrashers, who both jumped six spots: the Predators moved from 24th to 18th, and the Thrashers from 18th to 12th.

As is always the case with the NHL rankings, the disparity in the different sites' rankings is amazing. Just a sampling: the Canucks' rankings range from 10th to 22nd, the Lightning from 14th to 26th, the Thrashers fom 9th to 21st, the Penguins from 5th to 16th, and the Avalanche are ranked as high as 3rd (by FanHouse) and as low as 13th (by CBS).

One team all the sites agree on are the Hurricanes, who are unanimously ranked 30th.
