Pay Homage to Gamblor - Week 14
Last week: 3-12 (groan)
Season: 92-96-2
Lock of the week: 7-6
Home team in CAPS
Steelers (-10) over BROWNS
This is probably a bad way to start my week, betting on the Polamalu-less Steelers. With Troy Polamalu the Steelers are 4-0, including victories over the Vikings and Broncos in Denver. Without him, they are 2-6 and have suffered losses to the Bears, Chiefs, and Raiders. But, I just can't bet on the Browns, they are too bad, I can't do it.
COLTS (-7) over Broncos
Broncos fans -- remember weeks 8 thru 11? Get ready to feel like that again. Then once more in the first round of the playoffs. LOCK OF THE WEEK
Bengals (+7) over VIKINGS
As stupid as all the things Chad Ochocinco does are, they still entertain me. This is the same philosophy with which MTV has been programming its TV shows for the last 15 years. "Is this idea so dumb that a rational person would be in his rights to get visibly irritated just by hearing it mentioned? Yes? Well then we have a TV show."
Jets (-3) over BUCCANEERS
The Jets brought in Joe Girardi to teach Mark Sanchez how to slide. What does he do? Decides not to slide and gets knocked out of the game, and now he won't be playing this week. Good to see that pointless stupid move of having a football team bring in a baseball manager try to teach something did not pay off at all.
Bills (even) over CHIEFS
Lost in the shuffle of the Browns, Rams, Bucs and Lions, people aren't quite giving enough credit to the Chiefs for being a truly miserable team.
Packers (-3) over BEARS
Jay Cutler didn't throw any interceptions last week. He'll be out to prove that was a fluke performance. Cutler has already informed Charles Woodson that he will be throwing multiple balls at his hands Sunday.
Saints (-10) over FALCONS
I know Matt Ryan and Michael Turner were injured, but they don't play defense, and Atlanta's defense was reprehensible last week.
Ravens (-13.5) over LIONS
An absolute must win game for the Ravens, at home, against the Lions, who won't be starting Stafford this week. I think Ray Lewis started his pre-game-pump-up-the-team yelling Wednesday afternoon.
Dolphins (+3) over JAGUARS
I propose we get 20,000 people together and all buy tickets to a Jaguars game in Jacksonville. Seats are available!
PATRIOTS (-13.5) over Panthers
The Pats are still undefeated at home and Carolina won't be the benefactor of five interceptions this week.
TEXANS (-6) over Seahawks
The Seahawks have lost by 10+ points in every road game except for when they played the Rams, as disappointing as the Texans have been the last few weeks, they are still much better than the Rams.
TITANS (-13) over Rams
Nothing gets a team back on track like a game against the Rams. I'm fairly confident in saying this game features two of the top running backs with dreads in the NFL today.
Redskins (-1) over RAIDERS
The Redskins manage to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like no other team in football. It's truly impressive.
Chargers (+3) over COWBOYS
The Chargers have won seven straight games, the Cowboys are known for choking in December, yet the Cowboys are favored by three. I know the Cowboys are at home, but still, I don't get this line.
GIANTS (-1) over Eagles
The Eagles are about due for the horrible game they throw up once every four weeks or so. Andy Reid just signed an extension, so clearly it's time for some horrible clock mismanagement and questionable play calling.
Cardinals (-3.5) over 49ERS
The Cardinals will be looking to avenge their opening loss as well clinch the NFC West title.
