More Like All-Star WEAKend
I love the slam dunk contest. I'll watch it every year no matter who's in it. But most people were particularly excited about this year's competition. Last All-Star break LeBron said he was planning on competing this year. LeBron is probably the best in-game dunker in the league and his possible entry into the competition brought memories of Jordan when he participated in his prime. The dunk contest hit a lull post Vinsanity and Stevie Franchise. The two of them had a ridiculous competition in 2000 but in the past few years it has been much better with Superman and Kryptonite going at it. LeBron though, LeBron would take it to another level. That is, if he competes. He now is saying he's "50-50" on the idea.
"I'm like 50-50 right now ... I don't know if you can get it back to the 80s and like in '98 when Vince (Carter) was in it. It was more about the dunks and less about what was going on around the dunks. We'll see what happens ... When I said it I was very excited about doing it. I was there at the event and you get caught up in it a little bit."
Two things. One, YOU can get it back to that point. You're LeBron James! You don't need any props. If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem. And two, you're a little off on your dates. There wasn't a slam dunk competition in 1998 or 1999. Carter won it in 2000. I'll forgive this error if you compete this year. Otherwise, you're off my trivia team for good.
