Too Many Fans are Dumb

I went to the Monday Night game at FedEx Field yesterday. Maybe I'm just a hateful and spiteful person, but it seems to me everyone I hear speak when attending football games is a complete idiot who has no idea what they are talking about. Maybe it's because I was a bit sour due to the shellacking the Giants were putting on the Redskins, but maybe people are just idiots.

Some comments I heard from both Giants and Redskins fans alike showed an amazing lack of football knowledge or common sense. Granted the people may or may not have been drunk, but still, put 10 beers in me and I won't be heard saying, "Tomlinson is having a GREAT season. That's who we need."

Other gems included constantly calling Domenik Hixon, 'Nixon.' Perhaps this was a joke or taunt, but if so, it was a horrible taunt.

The frantic yelling of "spike it, spike it!" on 4th down: attention moron -- spiking the ball on 4th down would cause a turnover on downs, not a good idea.

Just a sampling of the kind of genius that is today's fans. And then there was the classic guy a few rows in front of me who, when asked to sit said, "Sorry bro, I don't sit down during football games." Now I'm all for standing at appropriate moments, but not the whole game. This isn't college basketball. Of course less than 10 minutes later maybe one of the four people in his group was actually watching the game. All of them standing, but two not even facing the field, completely oblivious of what was going on in the game, just talking to each other standing up, blocking the view for everyone else. This is the kind of idiocracy one must deal with at sporting events these days.
