The RCS NHL Power Ranking Averages combine six other sites' power rankings to make the most balanced and unbiased grade possible, and to offer the most accurate look at the state of the NHL on a weekly basis.
The Chicago Blackhawks are the unanimous number one team in the RCS NHL Power Rankings this week, their fourth week in a row at the top of the rankings. This is the first time this season that any team has been the unanimous choice at the top ranked team.
Falling in the most spots in the rankings are the Stars, dropping from 18th to 24th.
Moving up the the rankings this week are the Blues and the Islanders. Both teams jumped five spots in the rankings, with the Blues going from 26th to 21st, and the Islanders rising from 23rd to 18th.
The Islanders also are the team with the most interesting set of ranking from the various sites. The Islanders are ranked as high as 12th by Sports Illustrated and as low as 28th by FanHouse, an astonishing difference. The main reason for this difference is that this week FanHouse ranked teams by their goal differential when playing 5-on-5 hockey. Their use of this odd metric caused for a few strange rankings, Islanders included.
