We're almost at halftime, and, though they're making a bit of a run, it's painfully apparent that the Suns will have a brutal time getting through these playoffs without Robin Lopez. Even up 2-0, getting past a Spurs team dedicated to punishing Phoenix inside (as they are tonight) will be a tall order. And getting past the Lakers and their two behemoths inside? Don't even think about it.
The good news for Phoenix? Lopez says he's hoping to come back at some point this series. That may be wishful thinking, but, if they hope to have a shot at getting to the Finals, they're going to need him.
I'm standing by my prediction, but it's clear that Robin Lopez suddenly wields more power over the course of the NBA Playoffs than anyone ever thought a guy averaging 9 points and 5 rebounds a game could.
UPDATE: Then again, maybe all you need is a little Goran Dragic.
