Pay Homage to Gamblor - Week 17

It's New Years Eve, let's hope 2011 features more than one month of football because it very well may not. If the NFL goes on strike I'll still write this column, but I'll make gambling lines on whatever they end up playing on Sunday TV. Let's move on to week 17 picks, where we can never be sure who is going to play and who isn't. I need to go at least 13-3 to have a winning record for the season. That is not going to happen.

Last Week: 8-8
Season: 112-121-6
Lock of the Week: 14-2

Home team in CAPS

CHIEFS (-3.5) over Raiders
The Chiefs have been money at home all year, no reason to assume they'll let me down now.

PATRIOTS (-4) over Dolphins
While the Pats have nothing to play for, Belichick never sits players in meaningless games so they'll likely play all game and win by a lot. Way to ruin what was at one time looking like a very exciting playoffs with your dominance Patriots. Thanks a lot.

Titans (+10) over COLTS
Colts aren't really that good. The Titans are obviously worse, but a double digit spread is a bit ridiculous.

TEXANS (-3) over Jaguars
I can't believe I'm picking the Texans as they are a constant letdown, more so than any other team in the league. But, Garrard is definitely out and Jones-Drew might not play and without those two Jacksonville doesn't have much else going for it.

Steelers (-5.5) over BROWNS
If Troy Polamalu doesn't play I could see the Steelers dropping this game to fall from first-round bye to wildcard team, but since it has that much importance I say he plays and then win easy.

LIONS (-3.5) over Vikings
Fact, the Lions have the second longest active winning streak in the NFL right now.

Giants (-4) over REDSKINS

Yes, the Giants have lost two straight and very well may miss the playoffs because of it, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve to be bigger favorites in this game. The Giants own the Redskins, not only beating them all the time, but usually it's a massacre.

Bears (+10) over PACKERS
Chicago might rest its starters if Atlanta beats Carolina (which is like saying if rock beats scissors), but even still, 10 points is a lot to give up to the second best team in the NFC.

EAGLES (-6.5) over Cowboys
The Eagles will probably rest most of their starters, but they will still have a much better QB than Dallas.

JETS (-1.5) over Bills
This game bores me, would you care for a game of basketball?

FALCONS (-14.5) over Panthers
I made my mistake of betting on the Panthers last week, it won't be happening again.

Buccaneers (+7.5) over SAINTS
The Bucs will put up a good fight in this game as they still have a decent shot for the playoffs. They won't win, but they'll start next season as a lot of people's "sleeper pick," of course those people don't realize that a team that went 9-7 cannot be a sleeper.

Rams (-3) over SEAHAWKS
I almost want the Seahawks to win because it would be a comical to see a team that bad make the playoffs.

Cardinals (+6) over 49ERS
The fourth interim head coach of the season, does that seem like a lot to anyone else?

Chargers (-3.5) over BRONCOS
Tim Tebow's comeback win was nice and all, but people realize it was against the worst pass defense in the league right? The Texans love to collapse. I'm not trying to diminish his accomplishment, but let's not make it out to be more than it is. And yes, if they win here I'll say it was because the Chargers weren't trying.
