Reasons to Watch Non-Playoff NBA Teams (Western Conference)

Minnesota Timberwolves (PHX, @DEN, @PHX, HOU) - Kevin Love has been bothered by a groin injury recently and it seems like the smart thing to do would be to shut him down. But the Wolves aren't always known for doing the smart thing. They need to find out if Anthony Randolph is a suitable back-up for Love or if they should go with the more reliable Anthony Tolliver.

Sacramento Kings (@SAS, @MEM, @GSW, OKC, LAL) - Fans of the Kings are probably keeping a closer eye on politics than on the court. Orange County has been making all the right moves to snatch the franchise away from the state capital. Marcus Thornton will be a restricted free agent after this season. Is he worth re-signing? Can he effectively play alongside Tyreke Evans?

Los Angeles Clippers (@OKC, @DAL, @HOU, MEM) - As long as Blake Griffin is still on the court this team is still worth watching. Enjoy the last few games of his Rookie of the Year season.

Golden State Warriors (LAL, SAC,@ DEN, POR) - David Lee has come on really strong lately. Last night Lee poured in 29 points and had a season-high 20 rebounds. The Warriors are a fun team to watch and have a young core of Lee, Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis to build around. Now if only they could get a defensive-minded center. Ekpe Udoh is averaging over 2 blocks per game over his last 10 games. Is he the answer?

Utah Jazz (POR, @SAS, @NOH, DEN) - The Jazz are in the process of rebuilding and they've had their growing pains as of late. But last night they went into LA and put forth a great effort in beating the Lakers. It was rookie Gordon Hayward that made the difference. He's been getting more playing time due to a few injured players and he's playing his best basketball all season. Hayward had a season-high 19 points on Sunday and had a new season-high with 22 last night. The kid is gaining confidence and should continue to get offensive opportunities in the final week.

Phoenix Suns (@MIN, @NOH, @DAL, MIN, SAS) - The Suns are currently 37-40. If they don't win 3 of their final 6 games they will below .500 for the first time since the 2003-04 season - or as Suns fans call it the "pre-Nash era."

Houston Rockets (@NOH, LAC, DAL, @MIN) - The Rockets aren't officially eliminated from the playoffs but they trail the Grizzlies by 3 games with 4 remaining. They do hold the tiebreaker though. The Rockets need to do some serious evaluating. It seems like every one of their starters is slightly above average but none are stars. They will have a huge chunk of change if/when they release Yao Ming. Who will they look to replace? It's a weak free agent class this year.
