NFL Power Rankings a Muddled Mess
At this point it's almost not worth mentioning that the Packers are the unanimous top team in the RCS NFL Power Ranking Aveages. They are leaps and bounds better than anyone else at this point that it's clear they are the number one ranked team. The 49ers and Steelers trail them at second and third respectively, and the further down the rankings you go the more muddled thing become.
Even without looking at the Sagarin ratings, which continue to be unexplainable in places (the Giants at 20th - what?) most teams have a relatively large range of rankings from the various sites. A few examples include the Bengals, ranked from 8th to 16th and the Falcons ranked from 8th (9th excluding Sagarin) to 19th. With ten teams having three losses, it's anyone's guess as to who is better than whom at this point.
The bottom of the rankings stayed very similar to last week with the Colts in last, and the Dolphins just above them. With the Rams winning those two locked down all votes for 31st and 32nd, as they should have being the only two remaining winless teams.
The NFC and AFC North continue to set themselves apart as the best divisions in football, with the NFC North getting the nod this week, mainly thanks to the Vikings being better than the Browns. Both divisions have three teams in the top 13 overall with legitimate playoff prospects. On the other side of the spectrum you have the two West divisions and the AFC South. The AFC West has three solid teams at 4-3, but don't get a ton of love with the highest ranked being the Chargers with an average ranking of 15.13. Despite having the 28th, 29th, and 30th ranked team the NFC West comes out with a slightly higher overall average than the AFC South because of the strength of the 49ers.
