Redlegs Rundown

March 3, 2008 7:51 PM

Reds Fall to Twins, 8-6

The Jeremy Affeldt "tryout" for the rotation went into chapter two today against the Twins. Affeldt pitched decent, he went three innings allowing just one hit and one run. Scott Sauerbeck continues to prove how he's a waste of space in the bullpen, he gave up three runs in an inning. He now has an ERA of over 27, fitting right in with last year's bullpen. The team got a solid effort out of Brad Salmon, who seems to be a good fit for the "setup to the setup man", a.k.a the sixth-seventh inning guy. That is if Salmon can remain consistent.

As for the bats, Adam Dunn continues to have a great spring. He went 2-2 with two RBIs. Andy Green, a non-roster invitee I told you about in the beginning of January, also made noise today. He went 1-2 with a three-run homerun in the eighth inning.

Jay Bruce strained his quad against Toronto, it is not serious and he's being kept out as a precaution. This has opened up the door for Chris Dickerson, and the newly signed Corey Patterson to get more playing time along with Ryan Freel and Norris Hopper.
