Keppinger being shopped?
According to John Fay , Jeff Keppinger could be up on the trading block. Whether it's true or not remains to be seen, but it's interesting. He has no more options and Rosales would be able to play all over and has more pop off the bench. This obviously means the Reds are convinced Alex Gonzalez is going to be 100% healthy.
The only thing about it would be if something happens to AGon (it's happened before) and the Reds would have to play Hairston at SS everyday if they did indeed trade Kepp. Rosales isn't likely to be the answer there. And they're still resistant to moving Phillips over to the other side.
I'd be fine with moving Kepp. I think he's a quality player, but not going to be the difference between us winning or losing. He's had a terrible spring, but so has Arroyo and Harang, and we're not trading those two. In the end, younger and cheaper is better if everything else is the same.
Having guys like Jonny Gomes and Adam Rosales on the bench would improve the team a lot in my opinion. Time will tell. We're getting down to the last few weeks of spring training and the roster needs to be set.
Thoughts?
