Redlegs Rundown

The Reds have four new players after Day One of the MLB Draft.  I will direct you to Doug Gray's for a better breakdown.  But suffice to say we won't know about any of these players for a year or so, so there is no need to give any kind of grade or review on how good or bad the Reds did on the first day.  Starting today and running through tomorrow, we'll see if Chris Buckley's staff can find some diamonds in the rough and re-stock the ever-improving farm system.

BETTER NEWS:  According to Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News, Reds first baseman Joey Votto is working out and feeling better.  He may even go out on a rehab stint sooner than later.  This is great news.  The Reds REALLY need his bat in the lineup.  I mean these guys have somehow managed to stay in the race without their leader...and let's not fool anyone, Joey Votto is this team's leader.  Hurry back, Joey!

Setback:  Edwin Encarnacion will not be returning to the big club for a while if at all.  He apparently has had a setback with his wrist and had an MRI done to see the extent of the damage.  He is with the team in Washington so maybe it's better news than everyone fears.  Hopefully he can get healthy soon, too.  It would be another boost to the team's depth.
