- With Tuukka Rask and Steve Mason each having just played, Dany Sabourin and Mathieu Garon will be the starting netminders, with both expected to play the entire 60 minutes. Sabourin won his lone start of the preseason for Boston, making 25 saves in a 3-2 win over Toronto. Garon has no record thus far, despite making 41 saves on 42 shots in two appearances.

- Andrew Ference makes his preseason debut tonight. David Krejci, Kevin Regan, and Yannick Riendeau are the only players on the current roster that haven't played in a game yet. All three are currently recovering from injuries.

- Blake Wheeler and Vladimir Sobotka will each be appearing in their fourth preseason contest. By the end of the night, the Bruins will have twenty players with three games played, ten players with two games played, and Andrew Ference will join Kirk MacDonald in the one-game club.

- Zach Hamill is the only player on Boston's roster with multiple goals during the preseason. The former first round draft pick has a pair of tallies, following the rookie tournament that saw him record five assists in three games. Tomorrow is Hamill's 21st  birthday.

- Yesterday, Max Sauve was returned to the QMJHL's Val-d'Or Foreurs, bringing the Bruins' current roster down to 40 players. In three preseason appearances, Sauve led the club with three points - netting one goal, while dishing out a pair of assists.

- Columbus has been led offensively by Derick Brassard, who has one goal and three assists in three preseason contests. Since he is out of the lineup tonight, defenseman John Moore gets the title of leading scorer with his three assists. Maksim Mayorov and Antoine Vermette have each lit the lamp twice.

- The Blue Jackets' roster features two former Bruins on the ice tonight. The first is defenseman Jonathan Sigalet. Jonathan and his brother Jordan each spent three seasons in the Boston organization, playing for the Providence Bruins. In 199 regular season games with the Baby B's, the younger Sigalet had 21 goals, 60 assists, and 81 points. Jonathan also had two goals and four assists in 16 postseason tilts, while also appearing in one regular season game with the big club.

- The other former Bruin playing tonight will be Samuel Pahlsson. Pahlsson's tenure in Boston was a short one, as he played in just 17 games during the 2000-01 campaign. Despite his brief stay with the Bruins, the Swedish forward was part of one of the biggest trades in franchise history. Pahlsson, Brian Rolston, Martin Grenier, and a draft pick were all acquired from the Colorado Avalanche, as Ray Bourque and Dave Andreychuk each left Boston in search of a Stanley Cup.

- Boston and Columbus have only met up eight times during the regular season, with each side picking up four victories. Tonight will be the first ever preseason match-up between the clubs, with game two scheduled for Saturday night at the TD Garden.
