Rockies minor league report: April 24

Colorado Springs 10, Reno 0

The Sky Sox (10-6) pounded out 12 hits, including five for extra bases, to back up a solid outing by Jhoulys Chacin (3-0).  Chacin gave up only three hits and struck out five over 5.1 innings, though he did walk four.  As for that offense, Cole Garner (1-for-5, double) and Matt Miller (2-for-5) drove in three runs apiece, and leadoff man Eric Young Jr. had three hits.

Sky Sox Top Three: Chacin, Miller, Young (3-for-4, 2 runs, SB)

Springfield 11, Tulsa 4

The Drillers (5-10) continue to struggle this season.  Keith Weiser (1-1) had his first bad outing of the season, getting tagged for five runs on nine hits and two walks in five innings.  Andy Graham later made things even worse (four runs in 1.1 innings.)  As is the pattern, the offense wasn't that great, either.  The Drillers did get eight hits, but only one of them went for extra bases.

Drillers Top Three: Radames Nazario (2-for-2, 2B), Scott Beerer (2-for-5, RBI), Stuart Pomeranz (1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K)

Modesto 10, Stockton 9

The Nuts (9-5) were able to overcome a rocky outing by Dan Houston (3.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 5 BB, 1 K) and a blown save by Michael Marbry (1-0), who later picked up the win after a pair of Stockton errors allowed the winning run to score in the 10th inning.  Leadoff man Tim Wheeler reached base five times (one hit, four walks) and Jordan Pacheco delivered 4 RBI, three of them on a bases-loaded double in the seventh.

Nuts Top Three: Pacheco (2-for-6, 2B, 4 RBI), Wheeler (1-for-2, 4 BB, 3 R), Scott Robinson (3-for-5, 2B, 3B, RBI, SB)

Augusta at Asheville: Postponed

The Tourists (6-9) will make up last night's game as part of a doubleheader today.
