Group B In Review: Argentina Tangos To Next Round As Nigeria Rues Missed Opportunities

WINNER: ARGENTINA (9 points)

RUNNER-UP: SOUTH KOREA (4 points)

TURNING POINT:  Another controversial red card, this time shown to Nigeria's Sani Kaita for kicking Vasilis Torosidis of Greece. Nigeria was up 1-0 and cruising, but subsequently went on to lose 2-1.

BEST MATCH: The final match between Nigeria and South Korea for second place - which ended 2-2 - featured end to end stuff, and when Obafemi Martins missed a one-on-one that would have sent his team through in the last five minutes, we may have seen Africa's best chance to get into the second round disappear. A real nail-biter.

WORST MATCH: Argentina v. Greece. A second string Argentina, not really trying, versus a Greek team that played like it was on Prozac - - not one for the highlight reel.

PLAYER OF THE GROUP: He never found the net, but Lionel Messi was superb for Argentina, involved in almost every goal Maradona's side scored. But even then, we're tempted to give it to Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, who kept his team in game after game.

BIGGEST NO-SHOW: Argentine midfielder, Juan Sebastian Veron. We think we saw him run against South Korea. Maybe. For a few seconds.
