WINNER: Germany (6 points)
RUNNER UP: Ghana (4 points)
TURNING POINT: Mesut Ozil's wunder-strike in the second half of the final game brought a floundering Germany to the top of the group and on through to the next round.
BEST MATCH: Watching Australia first trying to make up a four-goal deficit against Serbia in the final half of the final game -- and then seeing Serbia trying to get a second goal -- was pretty exciting as both teams were desperate to score. Even though neither team ended up getting to the next round.
WORST MATCH: We're tempted to say either of the first two games that Serbia played. Watching the "Wall of Iron" was like watching, well, a wall of iron, only one that kept getting handballs in the box.
PLAYER OF THE GROUP: Many predicted Ghana was finished when all-world midfielder Michael Essien was lost to injury prior to the tournament, The fact that the team still qualified is a real tribute to the whole midfield -- especially the excellent holding midfielder, Anthony Annan.
BIGGEST NO-SHOW: Serbian striker Zdravko Kuzmanovic. He came on as a substitute striker in the first game against Ghana and promptly got the hand ball that, well, handed the game to Ghana. Oh, did we mention he never scored either?
