The Pit Stop

May 31, 2007 5:54 PM

Busch Series driver grades so far though race 13.

I only look at 28 drivers.  The first 26 drivers in points and two other drivers that have won a race this season.  Next week NEXTEL Drivers go under the spotlight team by team.

Carl Edwards –1st in points- A

Even with one semi bad finish he still leads the series by 423 points and is going to race the full season on a easy win of the championship.  He already has two wins and over 10 top ten finishes so far this season

Kevin Harvick- 2nd in points- A

Even with a limited driving schedule this year he is second in points. In 11 starts he has one win and 9 top ten finishes. He is going to continue to have finishes like this all season long.

Dave Blaney – 3rd in points- A-

He is driving in a Toyota this year.  Has four top ten finishes this year.  I expect more good finishes from him this year.

Matt Kenseth- 4th in points- A

Also not driving a full season this driver already has two wins.  He is going to wind with a productive Busch Series season no matter what.

David Reuitmann – 5th in points- A-

He is driving a Toyota this year.  Has three top ten finishes.  I expect more good finishes from him this year.

Regan Smith- 6th in points- A-

Has four top ten finishes this season with two of them being in the top five.  He is going to have a quality Busch season

David Ragan- 7th in points- A-

Seventh in points with only 2 top ten finishes while still being a rookie.

Clint Bowyer- 8th in points- A

Seven top ten finishes in 9 starts with two wins is great for a part time driver.  He is going to continue with the great finishes.

Jeff Burton- 9th in points- A

In eight starts he has eight top ten finishes and two wins.  You can’t go wrong with that.  Should easily get top ten finishes in every single race he is in this season.

Greg Biffle- 10th in points- B+

Six top ten finishes in 12 starts.  He is having a solid season.

Kyle Busch- 11th in points- B+

Not running a full season but has seven top ten finishes in 10 races this season.  I see loads more top ten finishes for him.

Bobby Hamilton Jr.-12th in points- B

Only one top ten finish.  He will get more consistent finishes though with a couple more top ten finishes.

Marcos Ambrose-13th in points- B

A rookie this year with two top ten finishes.  Is consistent with his finishes and could crack the top ten in point at the end of the season.

Casey Mears-14th in points- B+

In nine starts he has eight top ten finishes and one finish below 40.  A nice start for a part-time driver.

Juan Pablo Montoya-15th in points-B+

In 12 starts this rookie has one win and three top ten finishes.  I look for him to start pulling off some more top quality finishes soon.

Stephen Leicht- B-

Sixteenth in points with top ten finishes.  He should get a couple more top ten finishes this year.

Mike Wallace- C+

Seventeenth in points, but has no top ten finishes.

J.J Yeley-18th in points- C

In 12 starts this season he could only must a 12th place bets finish twice.  Might be able to pull off a couple of top ten finishes before the season is up.

Denny Hamlin-19th in points- C+

In nine starts he has one win, six top ten finishes, and two cruddy 40 or worst finishes. Should continue great finishes for the rest of the season though.

Jason Leffler-20th in points- C

Has only 3 top 10 finishes.  I think he will have a few more good quality finishes before the season is over.

Shane Huffman-21st in points- C-

Only two top ten finishes for this driver.  Do not expect much out of him for the rest of the season.

Jon Wood– 22nd in points- C-

Started out hot, but has fallen back in the points.  Not going to do much for the rest of the season imo.

Ward Burton-23rd in points- C-

1 top ten in 11 starts, but has finished every race this year even if down multiple laps.

Steve Wallace-24th in the points- C-

His best finish this season has been 14th.  Still has lots to learn before he can ever be be a NEXTEL Cup driver.

Kyle Krisiloff-25th in points- C-

Only 1 top ten finish in 13 starts for this rookie.  Not really going to improve much for the rest of the season.

Brent Sherman-26th in points-D+

0 top tens finishes so far.  Do not expect him to get any this season right now.

Final two drivers:

Bobby Labonte-29th in points- C-

Has one win eight starts.  Can easily pull off another win or two before the end of the season.

Kasey Kahne-34th in points- C-

Has one win in seven starts and has the car to some more races this year.
