Ella Sofia Gordon was born today at 9:09 AM weighing in a 7 pounds 1 ounce and coming in at 20 inches long. Because the baby is born today he will race this weekend in California.

Sources tell Marty Smith that starting in 2008 that Sprint is going to replace Nextel as sponsor of the series and it is going to be called the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Ricky Rudd has not made any plans yet for next season.

Road course racer Marcos Ambrose is not going to race in California this weekend and just concentrate on the race in Milwaukee.

Captain Thunder reports that Hendrick has been speaking with Pepsi and Monster Energy drink as a sponsor for Dale Jr's car. Monster Energy drink is owned by Anheuser-Busch who also own the Budweiser brand of beer.

June 28th at 10AM at Fenway Park Roush Fenway racing is going to talk about a major sponsorship deal for an upcoming race at the New Hampshire track. Carl Edwards is going to be at this event.

Humpy Wheeler states that he would like to see more blacks in NASCAR:

“Lewis Hamilton is the exact example of what’s got to happen here in NASCAR - he started out at an early age (at 9). And his path is exactly the path we’ve got to get our kids on - we’ve got to get black kids at an early age… start them out when they’re 10 or 12 years old, in something like our Bandoleros.

NASCAR Now Notes:

Terry Blount says that a company will have spend 25 million to get on the Dale Jr. car as the primary sponsor. A top level team uses get 18-20 million today.
