Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson Parked Friday at Infineon

The #24 DuPont Chevrolet and the #48 Lowe's Chevrolet have both been parked for the entire day today after both cars failed tech inspection. Neither car was allowed to participate in today's practice session and neither car will be allowed to qualify.

"The front fender was modified outside of NASCAR regulations," NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Friday. "That's where the area is. It didn't meet the template."

If they pass tech inspection tomorrow and Sunday, both cars will be allowed to start at the back of the field.

NASCAR suspended Dale Earnhardt Jr's crew chief, Tony Eury Sr. for six races for an illegal wing bracket at Darlington. Penalties to crew chiefs, Chad Knaus and Steve LeTarte will probably be announced after this week's race.
