I just don't get it, NASCAR suspends Craig “C.C.” Curione, from Evernham Motorsports, for shoving DeLana Harvick after a race in November and eventually re-instates him at the beginning of this season and Kurt Busch only gets penalized a 100 points, 100 grand and placed on probabtion for nearly running over a crew member from another team on pit road in a fit of rage last week?
What a joke.
Big deal. So I guess in NASCAR's eyes almost running someone over on pit road in a fit of rage is not as bad as having altered wing mounts, because Dale Jr's team got almost the exact same fine as Kurt for having different wing mounts on their CoT with one exception: Crew Chief Tony Eury was also suspended for 6 weeks.
Kurt has a history of this kind of behaviour, and with fines like this he'll be doing it again. I think NASCAR needs to hire Superior Court Judge Michael Sauer, he would take care of Mr Busch.
Here is an interview by Mr Busch after he found out about the penalties, or lack there of. You know, I may be biased here, but I'm not buying any of the crap he is dishing out in this interview - or any other time for now on. Fool me once, shame on you, but fool me twice, shame on me. His Mr Nice Guy routine is forever lost on me. The only way Kurt is going to me to cheer for him again is to give me one of his kidneys if I ever needed one.
I don't know, it may just be me and the state of mind I'm in, but some of his answers in the interview seem to have a certain smugness to them too. For example, when asked if he were surprised about the penalty he replied he was. Now was he surprised that it wasn't enough, or that it was too harsh? I vote for the latter.
How many people have died on pit road over the years in legitmate accidents - let alone if fits of rage? I don't know, but I bet the families of Chris Bradley (Adam Petty) and Mike Rich (Bill Elliott) may know and I bet if those men saw what Kurt did on Monday they would roll over in their graves.
It is official - I like Jeff Gordon more than Kurt Busch, and I don't like Jeff Gordon.
