Harvick stays out and wins race.

Denny Hamlin took the poll for the USG Durock 300 in Chicagoland. A whole boat load of busch whackers are into today’s race.

The first 58 laps had only three leaders Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards, and Matt Kenseth. On lap three Ryan Newman crashes out ending his day. “It flat came around on me,” said Ryan.

The first round of pit stop stops started around lap 58 and was action packed. Both the cars of Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards missed the entry into pit road and had to go one extra lap. Clint Bowyer getting into his pit stall clipped the edge of the Marcos Ambrose car destroying his front fender. Marcos got out onto the track and then smacked into the wall, but no caution came out.

Kyle Busch took the lead of the race at lap 68 when the pit stops cycled though. Green flag racing occurred until lap 78 when a debris caution came out. Jeff Burton took the lead of the race after pit stops occurred.

Around lap 95 another caution came out. Cars up front pitted again. At this time Jeff Burton was complaining that his A/C was not working right at all. Also Denny Hamlin changed a bad battery.

This led to another long green flag run where the cars of Kyle Busch and Jeff Burton took turns leading the race.

With 56 laps to go Brent Sherman crashes around the time another set of a green flag pit stops occur.

With 35 laps to go Aric Almirola spins out. Some of the cars on the lead lap stay out giving Jeff Burton the lead of the race again. The green flag drops and in a couple laps Kevin Harvick leads the race.

With 18 laps to go Carl Edwards had to serve a penalty for leaving equipment outside of the pit box. For this mishap he dropped to 24th place from 7th.

With 10 laps to go it is Kevin Harvick in the lead of the race with Matt Kenseth in second and closing quickly. With 5 laps to go it started to stabilized around a half a second on his way to the win of the race. It marks the first repeat winner of the race.

Richard Childress racing was able to take three of the top four spots.

Shane Wilson who is the crew chief for Kevin Harvick in this race said that he was not coming in.

“Newly rebuilt car here,” said Harvick. He rededicated this race to Carl Edwards who he stated was going to give him a good beating on the racetrack today.

“I was planning on staying out,” said Matt Kenseth. He stated that he was tight at the end of race.

“Weren’t really good on long runs,” said Jeff Burton. He finished in third.

Clint Bowyer said his fourth place finish was solid.

“They did an awesome job for me,” said Kyle Busch who finished in fifth.

“Car was good for most of the day,” said Denny Hamlin who finished in seventh. He stated that the alternator died in his car.

“I’m behind them 100%,” said Carl Edwards on his team. “Tomorrow is going to be awesome.” He finished in 20th.

In points Kevin Harvick was able to climb to 716 points back of Carl. David Reutimann is still in third and able to slightly get closer to Carl, but still 867 points behind Carl.
