NASCAR news conference news and more....

NASCAR this Saturday at 3PM is expected to hold a news conference where they are expected to announce a series name change to the Sprint Cup. The deal between NASCAR and NEXTEL allowed for one name change.

Carl Edwards racked up a 25 point fine today for a bad a shock confiscated by NASCAR after the Busch Series race on Saturday. His crew chief Pierre Kuettel picks up a 5 grand fine. He still leads the series now by 784 points.

Max Papis is going to be in the number 1 Phoenix Racing car in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 Busch Series race Aug. 4 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. He is going to replace J.J Yeley in the car.

Robbie Loomis of Petty Enterprises says a shop move to come in 2009.

Camping World to sponsor Robbie Gordon for three races.

Caterpillar, Inc., and Bill Davis Racing are still in discussions over sponsorship of the car driven by Dave Blane.

Kasey Kahne now denies that he is leaving Evernham Motorsports at the end of the year.
