Penske is near a deal that will create a third team for 2008 that is going to put Sam Hornish Jr. in the seat.  He is going to compete in a bunch of unspecified NASCAR Nextel events at the end of the season.

David Newton reports that NASCAR is unlikely to balk if Hendrick agrees to buy the number 8 from DEI.
