3 out of 4 in a row for Tony.

It is the final road course race of the year at Watkins Glen. Qualifying got rained out leaving Jeff Gordon with the poll for the race.

“I think we can do it,” said Robby Gordon. Patrick Carpentier stated that he would be happy with a top 20 finish. “Got to be aggressive,” Said Boris Said on getting to the front of the field. “Tricky to get around here,” said Jeff Gordon.

A late lap 22 caution occurred when Brian Vickers spun out, David Ragan wound up hitting him in the passenger side which caused the foam in the car to come out onto the race tack.

With 39 laps to go a Jimmy Johnson spin with help from Juan Pablo Montoya brought out a caution that put a lot of drivers on the edge of weather they could make it all the way on fuel. Almost the entire whole field came in for tires and fuel.

With 27 laps to go Dale Jr. and his engine gives up. “We broke the motor,” said Dale. “Down shifts were real bad.” It brought out another caution. Some cars pitted this time including Kurt Busch who got extra fuel needed to finish the race.

At the drop of the green flag it was Jeff Gordon in the lead with Carl Edwards in second. A couple laps go by and Kyle Petty and his engine blows up to bring out the caution.

The green flag drops and the caution comes out after a turn one wreck. It brought out a lengthy red flag lasting over 25 minutes. Martin Truex Jr. spins out Juan Pablo Montoya. Juan then knocks out Kevin Harvick. Getting the worse of the mess is Jeff Burton. After Juan and Kevin get out of the car both of them say some words and then Juan does some light shoving of Kevin. It almost gets into blows and then some NASCAR people come in to pull them apart.

“I was talking about kicking his(Juan Pablo Montoya) ass,” said Kevin Harvick. “Restarts were slow,” said Juan Pablo Montoya. He also stated that he told Kevin that it was not his fault. “We had nowhere to go,” said Jeff Burton.

During the red flag a fan jumped over the guardrail to ask Matt Kenseth for an autograph. He had a hat and a sharpie with him.

The green flag drops with 13 laps to go with Jeff Gordon in first, Denny Hamlin in second, and Tony Stewart in third. A battle for second place occurred after the inner-loop giving Jeff a solid lead.

A couple laps go by and David Reutimann spins out into the gravel pits. The green flag drops again and Jeff Gordon got another good restart. Jeff Was pulling out some of the fastest laps of the race and then with two laps left in turn one Jeff Gordon spins out.

On the final lap in turn 10 Carl Edwards went too fast and went into the grave pits. He continued on to finish the race in eighth.

Tony Stewart said he saw Jeff loose it the same way he lost it.  He also stated the more forward in the field he was the better the car was.

“Just overdrove it into one,” said Jeff Gordon.  He finished ninth.

In points not much changes at the top.  Jeff Gordon still leads Denny Hamlin by 344 points.  The race for 12th place though takes a major turn as Kurt Busch now leads the new 13th place car Ryan Newman by 96 points.  100 points back in 14th place is Dale Jr.. He wound up finishing the race in 42 place.
