The Pit Stop

2008 Nationwide Series pre season driver preview part 2.

In bold letters are car number, then the driver, model of car and finally the owner of the car.

1—Johnny Sauter-Chevrolet--James Finch/Phoenix Racing

Last year J.J. Yeley was in the driver seat of this car where it had 30 starts and only one top ten finish, but finished 17th in the points. I think this car will do better in the points with Johnny in this car. At least five top ten finishes and around a 10th place spot in the points.

2—Clint Bowyer—Chevrolet—RCR

Will run a full season this year. Race 22 times last year with a 12th-place finish in the points and a couple wins. I think he is going to win the championship in 2008. He is going to get around 4-5 wins in 2008.

5--Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Casey Mears, Jimmie Johnson, Landon Cassil—Chevrolet—Rick Hendrick

The car is supposed to make a full season run with a bunch of drivers. The car last year was in 26 races with four wins all by Kyle Busch. Mark, Dale, and Jimmy all have a shot at winning in this car. Cassil looks to run the majority of the races. I look for the car to win at least 2 races in 2008 and finish 5-10 ten in the owners points.

6-David Ragan—Ford—Roush

Had nine top ten finishes in 2007 and fifth place finish in the points. I look for him to have around the same season as last year. Might pick up a win though. Another 5th-10th place finish in the points for him though.

7—Mike Wallace—Toyota—Germain Racing.

Todd Bodine was in a car for only a few races for this team last year and popped in a couple top ten finishes. Mike Wallace last season though finished a full 35-race season 11th in the points with no top ten finishes. I think with Germain racing they pull off at least five top ten finishes and finish 5th-10th place in the points.

9 &19--Patrick Carpentier, Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler—Dodge—Gillett Evernham Motorosports

This team is looking to have two cars in the Nationwide series with the same group of drivers in them. Even if both cars go a full season I do not fully expect much out them. Wither car could steal a win. I think both cars as a whole get five top ten finishes a piece and if they both go a full season it they both could wind up 15-20th in the owners points. I do not think that is going to happen at all.
