The Pit Stop

January 8, 2008 5:51 PM

2008 Sprint Cup pre season driver review part 3.

In bold letters are car number, then the driver, model of car and finally the owner of the car.

11—Denny Hamlin—Toyota—Joe Gibbs Racing

Moves over to a Toyota car in 2008. Finished 12th place in the points with one win and 18 top ten finishes. I just do not think Joe Gibbs is going to solve the Toyota cars enough for this driver and he gets left out of the chase. I do not think he is going to get a win this year either. He will finish 13-17th in the points though.

12—Ryan Newman—Dodge—Penske Racing

Had no wins, but 15 top ten finishes. Was able to finish 13th in the points. Has another legit shot to make the chase this year and I think he makes it. I think he picks up a win in 2008 and has at least ten top ten finishes. He will finish 9-12th place in the points.

15—Paul Menard—Chevrolet—DEI

Finished 34th in the points last year with no top ten finishes and only made 30 starts. I think he rebounds from last year by making a couple more races and picking up one top ten finish. He will finish 27-32nd in the points. No wins for him.

16—Greg Biffle—Ford--Roush Fenway Racing

Had one win in 2007 with eleven top ten finishes. Finished 14th in the points. I think he moves back into the chase and has a multi-win season. I think he finishes 6-9th place in the points.

17—Matt Kenseth—Ford—Roush Fenway Racing

Finished fourth in the points with two wins and 22 top ten finishes. I see him back in the chase again with another multi win season with at least 20 top ten finishes. Could be a contender for the championship, but I do not think he gets it. A 3rd-5th place finish for him in the points in 2008

18—Kyle Busch—Toyota—Joe Gibbs Racing.

Made the chase last year in a Chevrolet. Had one win while finishing fifth in the points. I think he enough sub par finishes to keep him out of the chase. No wins for him, but at least seven top ten finishes for him. I think he finishes 13-17th in the points at the end of the 2008 season.

19—Elliott Sadler—Dodge--Gillett Evernham Motorsports

Finished 25th in the points with a measly two top ten finishes. I just do not see him improving much at all. He might get an extra top ten finish or two in 2008, but really does not do much at all point scoring wise. I say he finishes 24th-29th place in the points.
