All-Star event changes:
1) The race will now be called the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race XXIV. It was called the NASCAR Nextel All-Star Challenge
2) The Nextel Open is now going to be called the Sprint Showdown.
3) Each of the four segments has moved up to 25 laps now from 20 laps done last year.
In other news:
Start times for races will be out next week and 18 races, up from 15 in 2007, are now going to start 2pm or earlier.
Bam Racing now has Ken Schrader driving the #49 car for them at Daytona and that John Andretti may not be back in the seat for them this year. Healthlife.com will sponsor them.
Gillett Evernham Motorsports today said that they have sponsorship for the Patrick Carpentier entry around two-thirds sold. Valvoline and Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper are going to sponsor this car.
Kenny Wallace is going to attempt to qualify the #87 car for Furniture Row Racing for the Daytona 500.
Stephen Leicht is going to be in at least two Nationwide Series races for Richard Childress Racing.
North Eastern Supply Company has agreed to be an associate sponsor for #38 Nationwide Series car driven by Jason Leffler.
Bill Elliott has up his 2008 race schedule.
Rusty Wallace says that NASCAR has gone too far from its roots. I do not think by using Kelly Clarkson and Chris Daughtry killed the traditional fan base.
