Jimmie Johnson took the poll for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday with a speed of 181.763 MPH.  "I had a great racecar," said Jimmie Johnson.  "It is tough to get a clean lap."

Sitting along side of Jimmie will be Mark Martin. He stated that the car is not their yet.

"Pretty happy with it," said Carl Edwards.

"It's a lot different," said Sam Hornish Jr. who qualified all the way back in 38th spot. He stated that he is not use to breaking into the corners.

FCC finally approves the XM-Sirius Satellite Radio merger by a 3-2 vote.

David Newton writes that sources say that DEI is going to re-sign Martin Truex Jr. for two more years.  At NASCAR.com though Martin Truex Jr. using some sentence enhancers denies the ESPN.com report.

This Winston Salem Journal link says that Patrick Carpentier is going to know Mid-August what GEM is going to do with him for 2009.  They also say that Chip Ganassi and Michael Waltrip Racing could wind up merging.
