Nationwide Series drivers took to the 2-mile track at Michigan for the Car Fax 250. Carl Edwards had the poll for the race.
Brian Vickers said that he had a great racecar. Mark Martin said that he has a good enough of a car to win the race.
After a first lap caution for Mark Green and Steven Wallace who spun out separately we have a long green flag run. “I’m just disgusted,” said Steven on the wreck.
During the long green flag run Brian Vickers on lap 23 tried to pass Carl Edwards for the lead of the race, but could not do it. It took him until lap 33 before Brian had the lead of the race.
Green flag pit stops started around lap 43 as Brian Vickers came down for tires and fuel. Brian got the lead of the race back after everyone pitted. Not many more laps go by and David Ragan spins our all by him self.
Brian Vickers and most of the cars on the lead lap pit under the caution. Carl Edwards, Tony Stewart and a few more stay out.
The green flag drops and in a couple more laps the caution came out the crashing car of Robert Richardson Jr. The cars that did not pit still stay out.
This led to another long green flag run. Where Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards just blew out to a big lead on the whole field. Tony Stewart got to lead a bunch of laps and then the next caution came out on lap 91 for David Reutimann who had a tire blow.
David Reutimann said that he was a little tight off exit and that Clint Bowyer did not give him enough room.
The leaders pit and Carl Edwards got the lead of the race with Brian Vickers in second.
The green flag drops with 30 laps left. One lap later and Patrick Carpentier spins out for the next caution. The green flag drops with 25 laps left and Carl got another good restart.
Greg Biffle now starts to make a big move to the front of the field and with 14 laps left he took second place from Brian Vickers. Then a major fight occurs for the spot in a couple more laps Tony Stewart took over second spot. Tony was over three seconds behind Carl at this time.
Tony then attempts to catch Carl Edwards, but with around five laps left another battle for second place occurs where Brian Vickers was able to get second place. Carl Edwards though cruised on for the victory. The final lap though saw did see a caution come out for a spinning car.
“So happy that we won this thing,” said Carl Edwards.
“Carl had a better car on the short runs,” said Brian Vickers. “Just ran out of time.” He finished in second.
We were off pretty bad at the start of the race said Mark Martin. He did also say his car was spectacular at the end. Mark finished the race in fourth.
I don’t know what happened their said Clint Bowyer on the incident with David Reutimann. He wound up finishing the race in tenth.
With the victory Carl Edwards was able to make a solid jump and take over the second place in the points. He is 113 points back of Clint Bowyer. Brad Keselowki is in third place 132 points back.
